How to write a credit analyst resume
Write a credit analyst resume summary
- Open with the kind of credit you analyze, such as C&I loans, commercial real estate, consumer lending or B2B trade credit, and the deal sizes or number of accounts.
- Name the analysis you do: financial statement spreading, cash flow analysis, global debt service coverage and risk ratings.
- If you hold a lending authority or approval limit, put the dollar amount in the first sentence.
- For credit risk analyst roles, lead with SQL, Python, SAS or Tableau and the size of the portfolio you monitor.
Write credit analyst experience bullets
- Count your volume: loan requests a month, relationships reviewed each year, applications decided or new accounts set up.
- Give dollar ranges for the deals and the portfolio, such as requests from $1M to $15M or a $650M book under monitoring.
- Show the quality of your judgment: memos approved at loan committee without rework, loan reviews with no rating changes, delinquency or charge-offs on what you approved.
- In B2B trade credit, show DSO and past-due balances; in senior roles, add the analysts you review, policy you wrote and exam results.
Pick the skills for a credit analyst resume
- Show communication, Excel and analytical skills, and back them with credit analysis, financial analysis and financial statement analysis.
- Add underwriting, accounting and PowerPoint if you use them, plus your spreading software or loan system by name.
- Prove integrity with confidential borrower files, policy exceptions you flagged and clean exams rather than the word alone.
Do's and don'ts
Do this
- List your degree with its field, such as finance, accounting or business.
- Name the loan types and industries you have underwritten, from owner-occupied real estate to agricultural lines.
- Put a result in each bullet: approval rate at committee, risk rating accuracy, DSO, delinquency or net charge-offs.
- Show credit training such as RMA or NACM courses where a recruiter will see it.
Avoid this
- Don't write "analyzed financial statements" without the number of requests, the deal sizes or what your analysis changed.
- Don't leave out loan operations, bookkeeping or accounts receivable jobs; they show the accounting and file work entry roles ask for.
- Don't name borrowers or share deal details that would identify them.
- Don't apply to credit risk analyst roles with a lending resume that never mentions SQL, Python, SAS or a reporting tool.
